WYOMING COMMUNITY PROFILES
EVANSTON
Evanston has much more to offer than acres of developable land, available commercial space, and high-speed informational technology. The city of nearly 12,000 people boasts a successful historic central business district and takes pride in its safe environment and community spirit. The city is nestled in the Bear River Valley, framed to the south by the High Uinta Mountains, adjacent to the Wasatch Front. The Bear River meanders through the community, passing through Bear River State Park. Approximately one hour east of Salt Lake City, Utah, Evanston enjoys an unparalleled quality of life with the amenities of a metropolitan area.
Evanston is committed to ensuring that its educational facilities provide unparallel opportunities for students of all ages. Residents benefit from the Lifelong Learning Center (LLC), which, in partnership with Western Wyoming Community College of Rock Springs, provides academic, certificate and non-credit community education. LLC is a Microsoft Authorized Academic Training Provider and an authorized Prometric Testing Center.
Local activities include pro rodeo, dog races, bike races, horse racing, as well as local theater and drama productions. And just 75 minutes away residents also enjoy cultural events and sports activities such as the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, the Utah Jazz NBA franchise, and Stinger AAA Baseball, among many options. With over three hundred days of sunshine annually, people are sure to find a few days in every week to spend out of doors. Evanston residents find opportunities for hiking, skiing, golfing, ice skating, backpacking, snowmobiling, rodeos, horseracing, ice fishing, and cross country skiing in the Lilly Lake cross-country ski area.
