SUNDANCE
Serving as the county seat for Crook County, Sundance, Wyoming provides a supportive economic climate and a community that offers unmatched beauty and recreation. Located in the northeast corner of Wyoming along I-90, Sundance is situated along the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountain range in the heart of the Wyoming Black Hills. Local terrain varies from tall grass prairie to ponderosa pine covered mountains.
The largest employment sectors are government, agriculture, manufacturing, retail trade and services. The principal economic activities in the county are ranching, forest products, oil production and tourism. Other industries include automotive dealers and service stations, eating and drinking establishments, retail, lodging and recreation services. America's first National Monument, Devils Tower, has many paved trails and some of the most popular crack climbs in the world. Devils Tower is just 27 miles from Sundance. Sand Creek, just 17 miles east of Sundance, provides premier fishing opportunities for rainbow and brown trout while walleye, northern pike, bass and crappie abound just 15 miles to the west of Sundance in Keyhole Reservoir. Cook Lake, just to the north of Sundance offers a serene setting with excellent trout fishing for all ages.
