As you may be aware, OSHA issued the attached memorandum yesterday to provide interim guidance on the enforcement of OSHA's general industry and maritime standard for respirable crystalline silica. Most provisions of the standard became enforceable on June 23, 2018. Under the interim enforcement guidance, OSHA will offer compliance assistance instead of enforcement for the first 30 days (through July 23,2018) for employers making good faith efforts to comply with the standard. The interim guidance will expire when OSHA issues a compliance directive.
For more information on this standard, see OSHA's webpage on Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard for General Industry and Maritime.
