Nominees for 2008 Workforce Awards Sought

CHEYENNE - In preparation for the 2008 Governor's Summit on Workforce Solutions, The Wyoming Workforce Development Council and the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services are asking for nominees for the 2008 Workforce Awards.

At the Summit David Scriven, Chair of the Wyoming Workforce Development Council, and Joan Evans, Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, will present three Workforce Awards. "The Workforce Development Council is aware of unique and innovative practices within the State and annually looks forward to presenting these awards," says Jerimiah Rieman, Policy Analyst for the Department of Workforce Services. "This is a chance to recognize employers, groups and individuals in Wyoming who are contributing to the advancement of Wyoming's workforce."

The first award is the Innovation in the Workplace Award. This will be presented to an employer that is committed to investing in the development and well being of their employees and Wyoming's workforce. This employer demonstrates practices that improve the workplace such as employee retention best practices, employee training, career development, work-life balance policies, encouraging diversity in the workplace including generational diversity, provides market competitive wages and benefits, and addressing child care and workforce housing needs.

The Workforce Partnership Award will be presented to a project that has demonstrated a unique collaboration between business and community organizations that include but are not limited to the workforce system, economic development and education that results in addressing a workforce issue.

The final award is the Outstanding Individual Performance Award. This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the workforce development profession through the development or enhancement of public or private workforce systems, or the building of strategic alliances and partnerships.

All of the winners will be announced during the Awards Dinner on May 28, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. To nominate someone or find out more about the awards visit wyowdc.org or call Jerimiah Rieman, Policy Analyst, at 307.777.5629 or jriema@state.wy.us.
