Career Readiness Certificate Reaches Wyoming
CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, alongside the Governor's Office, the Wyoming Community Colleges, the Wyoming Department of Education and the Wyoming Department of Corrections, joins with 15 other states as it launches the Career Readiness Certificate program. The Governor will be hosting a press conference on this initiative on July 9th at 2:30 p.m. in the Governor's Office in the State Capitol.
The Career Readiness Certificate is an assessment-based credential that gives employers and career seekers a uniform measure of workplace skills. The three areas of focus in the assessment are Reading for Information, Locating Information and Applied Mathematics. The three levels of achievement, from highest to lowest, are gold, silver and bronze.
Joan Evans, Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, said, "The best part of working with this new program is its potential for positive change. Employers and job seekers alike will gain from assessing their skills, because it will allow them to focus their goals."
The Career Readiness Certificates utilizes the WorkKeys assessment that is powered by ACT. The program is aimed at helping employers and employees by providing a reliable method for assessing workers' skill. This will allow employers to target training for individual, incumbent employees as well as showing an employer which new hire is a great investment.
Testing for the Career Readiness Certificate is being administered through the Wyoming Community Colleges and their outreach centers. For more information about the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services or Career Readiness Certification visit wyomingworkforce.org/crc or call 877-WORK-WYO.
