WY Quality Counts! Works to Train Wyoming's Child Care Providers

CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services' WY Quality Counts Program has had a productive first year in its efforts to offer training to Wyoming's child care providers and to raise awareness among Wyoming parents of the importance of quality care that their child may be receiving. The program began in August, 2007.

The program offered over $197,000 in funding for scholarships to Wyoming's child care providers since August, 2007. In addition, $113,000 was given in continuing education grants to assist 95 child care businesses in obtaining short-term training for over 325 staff members.

Rick Imbrogno, the WY Quality Counts! Program Manager for the Department, said, "Providers have been taking advantage of the excellent continuing education opportunities the program offers and see immediate positive impact on their business and Wyoming's children."

The program shows no signs of slowing down. During the last legislative session, over $600,000 was approved for the program to continue to award scholarships and grants.
