State Veterans Service Officer to Conduct Outreach to Local Veterans

SHOSHONI/JACKSON - Reaching out to veterans in Fremont and Teton Counties. The Veterans Commission says new state veteran services officer Loriann Retel will begin meeting regularly with local veterans starting this week.

Veterans or family members who have any questions about benefit eligibility or need assistance obtaining benefits, or any other service are encouraged to meet with Retel.

Ken Johnson is the Veterans Representative for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. He says veterans will enjoy having someone they can talk to face to face.

He said, "These veterans want to sit down and explain their problem, explain the situation that they have to a live human being and this is where the state veterans services officer can talk to them."

Joan Evans is Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services. She says local veterans will benefit greatly from these outreach sessions.

Evans said, "These sessions are designed to help answer any questions they may have, whether its about employment or anything else. It’s surprising how many veterans don’t know about all the benefits they are entitled to."

Retel will meet with veterans Wednesday, January 21 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Shoshoni Senior Citizen Center, 214 East 2nd Street; Thursday, January 22 from 1:00 PM TO 4:00 PM at the Dubois Chamber of Commerce, 616 W. Ramshorn Street and Friday, January 23, from 9:00 AM TO 12:00 PM and again from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Jackson Workforce Center, 155 West Gill Avenue.

Retel will also meet with veterans in Riverton Wednesday and Thursday, January 28 and 29, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM both days at the Riverton VA Community-based Outpatient Clinic, 2300 Rose Lane.

Veterans are encouraged to call for an appointment. The number is 307-438-2101. Walk-ins are also welcomed.
