Wyoming Workforce Development Council To Continue Its Work Under New Executive Order

CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Workforce Development Council will continue its work for the state thanks to a new executive order to be signed by Governor Freudenthal this Thursday at the State Capitol.

Members of the council as well as executive staff of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services will be on hand for the executive order signing.

Established by a gubernatorial executive order in 1998, the role of the WWDC is to oversee the state's strategic plan for the development of Wyoming's workforce. That plan helps to assists individuals to become more economically self-sufficient while improving the quality of life for both them and their families.

The Wyoming Workforce Development Council works with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services in finding workforce solutions for the state and private businesses.

Joan Evans, Director for the Department of Workforce Services says the council is an invaluable resource. "The Workforce Development Council is primarily made up of private sector representation so it gives an opportunity for the agency to tap into that private sector knowledge when we're moving ahead with workforce solutions here in Wyoming," said Evans.

The executive order reconstituting the role of the WWDC will be signed at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Governor Freudenthal's Formal Office in the state capitol building in Cheyenne.
