Nominations Being Accepted for 2009 Workforce Awards

CHEYENNE - Five outstanding Wyoming employers, individuals and projects will be recognized at the 2009 Governor's Summit on Workforce Solutions for their efforts in various categories of helping develop Wyoming's workforce. The Wyoming Workforce Development Council, who is sponsoring the Governor's Summit, is now accepting nominations for the 2009 Workforce Awards. The five Workforce Awards are:

  1. Innovation in the Workplace Award - presented to an employer that is committed to investing in the development and well being of their employees and Wyoming's workforce.
  2. Workforce Partnership Award - presented to a project that has demonstrated a unique collaboration between businesses and community organizations that include, but are not limited to, the workforce system, economic development and education which results in addressing a workforce issue.
  3. Outstanding Individual Performance Award - recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the workforce development profession through the development or enhancement of public or private workforce systems, or the building of strategic alliances and partnerships.
  4. Outstanding Investment in Young Workers - presented to an employer that is committed to investing in young workers.
  5. Outstanding Investment in Older Workers - presented to an employer that is committed to hiring, training and retaining older workers

The Wyoming Workforce Development Council will present the awards at the 2009 Governor's Summit on Workforce Solutions on May 28-29th at the Snow King Lodge in Jackson.

Director Joan Evans of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services will assist the Council in presenting the awards. "This gives the Council an opportunity to recognize employers for innovation, partnerships, individual performance, investment in young workers, as well as older workers, or mature workers. As a Department, we are pleased to support the Council in this way." Evans said.

The deadline to nominate a business or an individual for one of the Workforce Awards is March 31, 2009. Nominations can be made at the council's website.
