Workforce Development Council to Announce Grants at the 2009 Governor's Summit
CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Workforce Development Council will announce $582,000 in grant opportunities at the 2009 Governor's Summit on Workforce Solutions. These grants are being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Jerimiah Rieman, Policy Analyst for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services and organizer of the Governor's Summit, said, "The grants will be targeted to support industry partnerships and training initiatives in alternative and renewable energy and programs that support economically disadvantaged individuals in reaching self-sufficiency. Industry partnerships are multiple-employer collaborative efforts that bring together employers and employees around the common purpose of improving the competitiveness of a sector by addressing development, recruitment and retention challenges."
The Summit is set for May 28th and 29th in Jackson, Wyoming at the Snow King Resort. Rieman says the event will be the most relevant workforce solutions-oriented conference any Wyoming business or employer could attend this year.
Rieman added, "Details on how organizations can apply for these grants will be announced at the Summit. The Wyoming Workforce Development Council expects to open these competitive grants for application on June 1, 2009."
Joan Evans, Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, said, "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars allows these important projects to progress. I'm pleased that the Wyoming Workforce Development Council is making these dollars available."
