Riverton/Lander to Host Career Readiness Workshops for Businesses

RIVERTON - The Department of Workforce Services Riverton and Lander Workforce Centers have teamed up with ACT, Inc. to offer businesses across the state free Career Readiness Certificate Workshops.

Joan Evans, Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, said, "These workshops will provide an opportunity for employers and community partners to learn more about the Career Readiness initiative and the WorkKeys® Assessment that is part of that Initiative. The WorkKeys® Assessment is known for assessing an employee's foundational skills for work readiness and we're very excited for employers in Wyoming and our partners to learn more about the benefits of hiring folks who are ready for employment."

The Riverton presentation is set for October 21, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Community Room in the Fremont County Library at 1330 West Park Street. A second session will be held in Lander on the same day from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Library meeting room at the Fremont County Library at 451 North 2nd Street. Refreshments will be served at both sessions.

Rob Black, Department of Workforce Services Community Projects/Grant Manager, encourages local businesses to take advantage of the complimentary workshops. "These workshops are great opportunities for Wyoming businesses to not only learn more about the WorkKeys program, but to help businesses put the program to work for them," Black said. "Business owners can learn how they can save on time and effort, and maybe even some money, when recruiting and hiring workers."
