Rocky Mountain ADA Center Provides ADA Training to Wyoming Businesses

The Rocky Mountain ADA Center is one of 10 regional centers funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, a division of the U.S. Department of Education. Their mission is to provide information on the Americans with Disabilities Act to individuals and organizations in Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota. The Center is operated by Meeting the Challenge, Inc. which is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their staff consists of people with disabilities, spouses and parents of people with disabilities, and people with professional experience in the disability field.

The Rocky Mountain ADA Center’s core services offered include Materials dissemination, Technical assistance on the ADA, Training, and Referrals to experts, and Research.

Chantel Wooyard, ADA Information Specialists for the Rocky Mountain ADA Center explained the type of technical assistance they offer businesses in order to help them comply. "We provide training on the American Disabilities Act so we cover Titles 1-5. We can do basic ADA, disability etiquette and we have people that are specialized in building codes, the American with Disabilities Act Architectural Guidelines (ADAAG) as well as private business effective communication. It just really depends on what type of specific training around the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is needed," Wooyard said.

ADA specialists are available to answer questions or schedule training by calling 1-800-949-4232, Monday through Friday. Training sessions do cost a minimal fee and can be requested at www.adainformation.org.
