UW combines major-university benefits and small-school advantages, with more than 180 programs of study, an outstanding faculty, and world-class research facilities. The school of 13,000 students graduates an average of 2,300 students each year. Laramie is also home to the Wyoming Technical Institute, a premier technical, automotive, diesel and collision/refinishing school.
The nearby mountains offer a variety of year-round recreation and sightseeing opportunities. Vedauwoo, located 12 miles east of town, features towering granite rock formations that provide a stunning backdrop for picnicking, hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing and camping. The Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area, located 32 miles from Laramie on Wyoming Highway 130 offers 25 downhill runs, snowboard half-pipe and non-maintained cross-country ski trails.
