The Workforce Development Training Fund’s (WDTF) Internship and Business Training Grants receive an overwhelming number of applications each month, and we anticipate continuing to receive a high volume of applications making the grants highly competitive. Due to funding limitations, we are unable to grant applications to everyone who applies. If you applied but were not awarded a grant please consider reapplying during the next application window.

Please note: while WDTF grant rules may state the maximum amount allowed for eligible expenses, new parameters have been determined and put in place for the program to remain viable and fiscally responsible. These new parameters are in effect as of May 1, 2023. Please click on the specific grant link on the left for specific parameters of that grant.

WDTF staff is available for questions or clarifications as you are completing an application, however, due to the short timeframe of when applications can be submitted and the quick turnaround WDTF staff has to get all of the applications reviewed, there will not be an opportunity to make edits once submitted, if it is determined the application was not clear or sufficient.

WDTF will accept applications during the first seven (7) calendar days of each month.   Please do not reuse older applications as the content has changed.  Applications submitted before or after the first 7 days will not be considered.

BEFORE submitting a WDTF application:

  • For a WDTF grant application to be considered, the applying Business shall be registered and in Good Standing with Wyoming Unemployment Insurance (UI) Worker’s Compensation (WC) and the Wyoming Secretary of State  at the time the application is submitted.
  • It is the  responsibility of the Business to confirm their registration and Good Standing status with Wyoming SoS, UI and WC prior to applying for a WDTF grant.
  • Allow 2-4 weeks at a minimum for processing new registration or when updating SoS, WC and UI accounts.
    • Secretary of State – allow up to 7-15 days for processing
    • Unemployment Insurance and Workers’ Compensation – allow up to 2-4 weeks or longer for processing
  • If applying for a Business Training Grant, you will also need to be registered and in good standing with HireWYO.
    • Please allow up to 5 business days for processing; however, if Workers’ Compensation or Unemployment Insurance accounts are not set up, the HireWYO verification process may take longer as these accounts are required to complete the HireWYO account set up.
  • Applicants that were denied due to good standing issues may submit new applications in subsequent months if the training event still takes place at least 30 days after the date of submission and once the Good Standing statuses have been fully addressed.

A note about applications:

  • Applications must be complete, with all appropriate supporting documentation, to be considered.
  • Preferred Industries will be a consideration as applications are reviewed.
  • If your application is denied due to limited funding, you may create a new application for the following month, if the training is still applicable and submitted 30 days prior to the start of the training.
  • If an application is denied due to errors and/or omissions, a new application will need to be created, with the items addressed, if you are planning to apply again the following month.
  • If you have not received communication from a WDTF staff member within two weeks of the application window closing (the 7th day of the month), you may follow up with an email requesting a status update.
