WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FUND PROGRAM
Grants for Existing Positions
Business Training Grants for Existing Positions can provide up to $2,000 per trainee per fiscal year for established Wyoming businesses with existing employees who need a skill upgrade or retraining in their current occupations.
In order for training to be approved, the business must demonstrate:
- Training will either correct an employee's skill deficiency or upgrade an employee's current skill level;
- There is a direct relationship between the training and the trainee's occupation or craft;
- The training is not normally provided by the business;
- The business will not substitute funds normally provided for training or funds obtained from another source with Business Training Grant funds;
- There is a need for the skill upgrade provided by the training for the business to remain competitive in the industry or economy; and
- The skill upgraded provided by the training will:
- Enhance the business's productivity, efficiency, or profitability;
- Reduce employee turnover;
- Enhance employee effectiveness; or
- Enhance Employee wages.
What do I need to know about preparing a paper application?
- The application must be submitted on the official application form (linked below).
- The application must be mailed or hand-delivered to the address on the application.
- Applications must request funding for only one training event per application, but the training event may include multiple training dates.
- There is no limit to the number of applications a business may submit.
- Applications will only be accepted:
- Up to 110 days before the scheduled training date;
- No less than 30 days before the scheduled training date. (To assist with the calculation, please use the date calculator below.)
- A proposed curriculum for the training and copies of any brochures, information, etc. describing the training must be included with the application.
- In order to received disbursements (payments) from the State of Wyoming, the business must be established as a vendor with the State Auditor's Office (SAO). If the business is not already enrolled, please click the link below (WOLFS-109).
The Workforce Development Training Fund strongly recommends that all businesses elect the EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) option on the WOLFS-109.
